Circle of Compassion

A transformative course to deepen compassion & healing in yourself & the world

"I live my life in widening circles

That reach out across the world.

I may not ever complete the last one,

But I give myself to it."

Ranier Maria Rilke

Step closer, love.

To the life you want to live. To the life that is waiting to unfurl within you and spread its wings.

Say yes to yourself, to your deep joy, your wildness, your magic, your tenderness, your vulnerability, to the places you hide that long for the light and for your love.

Say yes to your entire imperfect and messy life. Allow joy to rush in and the habits of perfectionism to release their too tight grip.

Taste and explore, honor and appreciate the life you are living now fully. Just as it is.

This is how Circle of Compassion begins.

With self compassion. With radical acceptance.

With Circle of Compassion you'll start each day calm, centered, grounded and present.

You'll feel the joy of being fully present, alive and connected to yourself.

I invite you to commit to your self care and to caring for the world over the next 6 months, from the beginning of spring (March 23rd), to the beginning of fall (September 6th).

During these 6 months you'll receive tools for inner transformation and growth, exploration and expansion, as well as healing, grounding and renewal, and how to be the change you want to see in the world.

You'll not only cultivate unconditional love and compassion for yourself, but you will also learn how to expand your self compassion into compassionate action and awareness in the world.

In the tumultuous and often frightening world we currently live in self compassion and global compassion are desperately needed.

Circle of Compassion addresses both, starting with you.

Do you feel anxious? Unsettled? Up in the air? Agitated?

Do you have trouble sleeping? Or getting up in the morning?

Are your days filled with stress?

Do you feel overwhelmed by what's going on in the world?

Do you struggle with negative self talk or judgment?

In Circle of Compassion you'll start the day feeling grounded & centered, spacious & connected to your deepest self. You'll release anxiety and fear and deepen self compassion and love.

In the middle of the day you'll take a few minutes to pause, reset, resettle, and relax, releasing the stress that builds up as the day progresses.

In the evening you'll let go of residual agitation with a yoga nidra and fall asleep easily, sleeping peacefully throughout the night.

How does that sound?

You begin with self compassion, loving kindness, and taking time to practice RAIN: Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture when you're triggered or caught in a loop of negative self talk, judgment or anxiety.

This is the foundation.

You then widen the circle that begins with an inner journey of love and compassion, forgiveness and tenderness, to include all beings, the world itself, to heal the planet with actions and awareness rooted in love.

If you believe that what the world needs now is love, and that in order to spread love in the world we must first sow the seeds of love within ourselves then this course is for you.

If you believe that what the world needs is not only love but also compassionate awareness and action for sustainable and empowered change, then this course is for you.

In Circle of Compassion you'll receive simple, powerful, doable practices created for the full lives we all have. I'll provide morning, midday and evening practices 3 days a week that you can do throughout the week and that benefit from and deepen with repetition.

In Circle of Compassion you'll practice

  • self compassion, loving kindness and RAIN meditations
  • grounding and holding yourself (and others), in love
  • listening to and following the intuitive & deep wisdom of your heart
  • releasing anxiety and self judgment
  • forgiving yourself & others
  • accessing your center when you're triggered so you respond from love instead of fear
  • beginning to heal the heart of past trauma & wounds
  • letting go of stress and overwhelm and returning to a place of calm
  • powerful & simple journal exercises to deeply connect to your inner wisdom
  • self inquiry and social justice: being the change you want to see in the world

Each month in Circle of Compassion you'll focus on:

Modules 1 &2 : Radical Acceptance: Self Compassion & Inquiry

“An explosion of research into self-compassion over the last decade has shown its benefits for well-being. Individuals who are more self-compassionate tend to have greater happiness, life satisfaction and motivation, better relationships and physical health, and less anxiety and depression. They also have the resilience needed to cope with stressful life events such as divorce, health crises, and academic failure, and even combat trauma.” Kristin Neff

Module 3: Radical Compassion: RAIN

“The RAIN of Self-Compassion is not a one-shot meditation, nor is the realization of our natural awareness necessarily full, stable, or enduring. Rather, as you practice you may experience a sense of warmth and openness, a shift in perspective. You can trust this! RAIN is a practice for life—meeting our doubts and fears with a healing presence. Each time you are willing to slow down and recognize, oh, this is the trance of unworthiness… this is fear… this is hurt…this is judgment…, you are poised to de-condition the old habits and limiting self-beliefs that imprison your heart. Gradually, you’ll experience natural loving awareness as the truth of who you are.”
Tara Brach

Module 4: Loving kindness, Tenderness & Consideration toward Self & Others

“Compassion arises when we experience suffering, and to experience suffering directly we need to be in touch with vulnerability in our body, where the suffering registers. Then the natural response is tenderness. Self-compassion then allows us to feel compassionate toward others: If we have not been with our own vulnerability, we cannot resonate with another person’s vulnerability.” Tara Brach

Modules 5 & 6: Widening the Circle: Compassionate Action and Awareness in the World

“A palliative caregiver describes the greatest regret expressed by the dying: I didn’t live true to myself. To “live true” we need to awaken self-compassion and love ourselves into healing. And we need to attune to others with an active caring, and include all beings in our heart.” Tara Brach

“Justice starts with us, how we treat ourselves. Taking care of myself feels like the first approximation of what I’m trying to offer in the world.” Rhonda Magee
